Did you know that Star Wars appeared in comic books before it was on the big screen? Over 30 years ago, Marvel released Star Wars comics weeks before the popular George Lucas films debuted in theaters. Starting in May of 2015, Marvel will release remastered versions of this adaptation of the iconic sci-fi trilogy, beginning with STAR WARS: EPISODE IV, A NEW HOPE .
The oversized graphic novels will feature remastered, vibrant coloring, including additional scenes not present in the films. Written by Roy Thomas with art by Howard Chaykin, the graphic novels feature modern recoloring by Chris Sotomayor and debuts with special packaging and all-new cover art by illustrator Adi Granov.
The stunning cover art features Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C3PO and R2-D2 with ominous images of Darth Vader and the Death Star in the background.
And yes – the Millenium Falcon swoops about in combat with Imperial TIE fighters with the help of an X-wing. The top half dark/lower half light context frames the familiar and beloved epic good versus evil space struggle many readers have grown up with and enjoyed for decades.
