Winter: a time to huddle indoors, recharge, and regrow. Due to the pandemic, this may be an even more isolated seasonal activity than usual.
In this three hour session, we will take time for ourselves and each other. We’ll confront challenges and create well wishes on the Winter Solstice.
  • Introduction and Emotional Safety: We will get to know each other. The group will discuss topics we wish to explore and avoid. We adapt safety techniques for ritual from live action gaming.
  • Images of The Hermit: A discussion of the Hermit archetype and how they appear in tarot, literature, art, and film. Do you relate to the Hermit at all? Is this archetype empowering?
  • Guided Meditation on Survival: Harsh winter and isolation can be difficult to endure even in the best of times. We will look within ourselves, harness our own power (and possibly our shadow selves) to confront threats to our survival.
  • Challenge Discussion: With the busy nature of the outside world gone this season, what challenges do we still have? Are you still always busy and doing things for others? Let’s identify our real world challenges.
  • Yule Journaling: Using a simple and effective method for intention-setting, we will outline and identify creative intentions for the new year.
  • Divination: We will provide tarot readings or rune castings for each other. (Divination tools and ability to read tarot not required. We have plenty of eager readers!)
  • Yule Blessing Ritual: We will each write part of a ritual/blessing to wish each other well for the new year. Contribute elements of your own faith to bestow kindness on yourself and others.
  • Recitation: We will attempt to manifest our blessing and ritual through recitation.
  • Debrief and Farewell: We will discuss our experiences and emotions, then say farewell to one another.

Yule Celebration Details

  • The Yule Celebration is a single session and costs $19. GET YOUR TICKET HERE!
  • Yule Celebration is limited to 7 participants so we all have time to share.
  • While this is a witchy ritual, this is open to people of all faiths and focuses mainly on stirring the creative spirit.
  • Yule Celebration takes place privately via Zoom.
  • While Yule pagan in nature, we welcome participants of all faiths. Participants must be 18+ and all genders are welcome. Our space strives for inclusion. We are LGBTQ+ affirming and support the Black Lives Matter movement as well as other beliefs of equality. While this experience is PG-13, we are a sex-positive space. Content includes participants’ personal experiences in life; we may talk about exclusion, abuse, parenting/fertility, and more, but have emotional safety tools to considerately engage with sensitive topics and to avoid triggering topics for participants. Participants should consider personally important spiritual beliefs and clothing and avoid appropriating elements from other cultures.
  • This experience is in English, but welcome to participants from around the world.
  • This takes place 7-10 PM Eastern Time (Washington DC) on December 21 (Monday).

This event includes brief health and wellness breaks as needed to ensure participants’ needs are met.

While participants may explore aspects of their lives during these rituals, this is not therapy and it is not conducted by a licensed therapist. Additionally, while this is intended to be a spiritual experience, it is not affiliated with any regularly meeting group or ongoing, organized religious practice.

Unlike many events run by The Geek Initiative Larps, this is not a live action role playing game. You will not be assuming a character. Yule Celebration was inspired by Sanctuary Avalon, a live action spiritual roleplay experience for femmes. Questions? Email tgilarps@gmail.com.
