Fashion Review: Women of Marvel Her Universe The Scarlet Witch Jacket

Finally, quality Scarlet Witch-inspired apparel! One of my biggest pet peeves about the Age of Ultron and Civil War merchandise is that too often, it’s considered “inclusive enough” if Black Widow is slapped on it despite there being two female members of the Avengers. Wanda often gets shafted and official apparel featuring her has so far been limited to icky “unisex” tees or print-on-demand shirts of questionable quality. But finally, Her Universe has filled the merchandise gap with their casual cosplay take on Scarlet Witch’s awesome coat.   Product sizing As Tara noted in her review of Her Universe’s Thor...

Comic Book Review: Marvel’s Scarlet Witch #1

If you know me in real life, you know I’m a huge fan of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch as she appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So when I heard she was getting a solo comic run, I was both excited and a little nervous. I’ve been wanting to find a place to jump into the comics for awhile, but with the longer runs it’s really difficult to find a starter point. On the other hand, I also had a kneejerk “oh no, what if they don’t do this right” reaction I think we’ve all had when a favorite female...

Product Review: LUSH No Drought Dry Shampoo

Okay, I admit it: I’m a camp snob. All of the Girl Scout camps I attended as a child had full amenities and I am always happiest at LARPs with access to showers and bathrooms. So when I heard that the new camp my home LARP was moving to will be without showers for a few months, I knew I had to find another solution. My hair is waist-length, but it’s baby-fine. There’s just not enough of it to soak up even a normal amount of oil, so if I don’t shower every single day, I end up looking...

Trapped in Etsy Hell

“There’s only one hell, Princess, and it’s called Etsy.” DISCLAIMER: This is a cautionary tale, not an anti-Etsy piece. There are many wonderful, honest sellers on the site with excellent items. Unfortunately, when the system breaks down, there’s not much of a safety net. If I’ve learned anything from my latest Etsy experience, it’s that you need to be that annoying buyer. You know the one: they harass you for an update twice (or more) a week, are overly particular about the details, and don’t hesitate to open a dispute at the slightest sign of trouble. You will hate working...
