Playing a healer isn’t as easy as you’d think. While you won’t often be in direct combat, you will be herding cats with martyr complexes. Check out my handy illustrated guide for an insider’s view to a day in the life of a healer in a LARP.
Get used to doing this:
If you have to ask why, you haven’t played a healer long enough.
Well, your friends’ dying bodies aren’t going to heal themselves!
Finding the perfect adventuring party:
Nothing says friendship like battling the forces of evil at 3 in the morning.
When overeager fighters run off into certain death:
This is the Redshirt Brigade. You will learn to love and hate them.
When someone attacks your tank:
Seriously, things can get crazy in the heat of battle:
It feels great when you manage a heroic save:
Bonus points if you just saved someone from certain death at the hands of the Big Bad.
But sometimes you get there 3 seconds too late:
Wait, that was your dad? And it was his last life? …oops.
It often takes some crazy shenanigans to save the day:
Either you’re trying to get us killed, or I’ll take this crazy plan as a vote of confidence in my abilities.
But usually things turn out pretty okay:
Drinks at the Inn for everyone!
Think you’re up to the challenge? We play at Seventh Kingdom IGE in South Jersey and we’d love to see you at the next event! If you’re not in the area, check out LARPing.org’s LARP List to find one near you!
